How to · wedding contracts

Before you sign, find the dates that change your plan.

A wedding contract can contain more than a wedding date and a price. Review the full agreement for payment schedules, information deadlines, and the process for making changes.

1. Read for obligations, not just numbers

  • Mark deposits, balance dates, final guest counts, menu selections, and required insurance or permits where applicable.
  • Look for notice periods and relative dates such as “21 days before the event.” Work out the actual date and check it with the vendor.
  • Check the written change and cancellation terms rather than assuming they match a different vendor’s agreement.

2. Resolve ambiguity before adding reminders

Ask who needs to receive each item, whether receipt must be confirmed, and what happens if the date is missed. If a term is unclear or could have significant consequences, consult a qualified professional.

3. Confirm before connecting the plan

Élan can help extract dates and planning details from uploaded documents. You check the proposed facts against the original and confirm what belongs in the calendar and linked tasks. Extraction is assistance, not a guarantee that every term has been found.
